Announcing: Sandra Hall will be performing at our AMERF / Music On Main Steet musicians fundraiser on Sunday September 22, 2019. What a treat!
AMERF is proud to announce that Sandra Hall has joined our Board of Directors. Sandra is familiar with our work, as her father the late Eddie Tigner was one of our first clients- the recipient of an assistance check when his wife passed away. Sandra has enthusiastically embraced our cause in accepting this position.
“The Empress Of The Blues,” Sandra Hall, has been preaching, teaching and vociferating the blues from a city that has played host to both gospel and blues music for the past ten decades- Atlanta, Georgia. She got her start at the age of four in a little town just outside of Atlanta called Oakland City singing gospel music at Whitesville Baptist, and at the age of 12 formed a group called The Soul Sisters and began singing in clubs.
Then in the 1960’s she began to open shows at the world famous Royal Peacock club. Since that time, Sandra’s musical career has soared to many heights and has taken her near and far; she has written and sung the blues for audiences around the world. Throughout her journey she has shared the stage with such artists as James Brown, BB King, Johnny Taylor, Otis Redding, Bo Diddley, The Temptations, The O’Jays, and Etta James, just to name a few.
Her sonorous vocals, inspirational stage presence, professionalism, determination, and strong constitution helped her procure the title “The Empress of the Blues” and have led her to the hottest blues clubs and venues in the United States and Europe for over 35 years.
Sandra’s live shows are full of high energy, audience participation and smiles, and she is backed by some of the best musicians of our times. Much of her time is spent touring throughout the United States, Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands, playing festivals and clubs, and we are delighted to have her join our Board of Directors.
