Board Member Sandra Hall Takes the Lead for Beverly Watkins

I am sincerely starting to enjoy working with our newest board member, Sandra Hall.  Aside from the thrill of being associated with (and building on an established friendship with) a lady, I’m finding out what a loving and giving person she is. It’s said that even a blind hog can manage to find an acorn…. I feel a bit like that lucky porker, but I think I stumbled across a truffle rather than a mere acorn.

Sandra Hall

It has been just a few weeks since Sandra was invited to join us, and from that day she has proven an enthusiastic and active supporter; she’s recently taken the lead in AMERF’s effort to support one of Atlanta’s musical treasures, Beverly Watson.  Sandra has visited with Beverly and as of today (August 16, 2019), reports that Beverly is in very good spirits, despite having suffered a stroke which has left her left side paralyzed.

She will be leaving the care facility where Sandra visited her, and is going to move into an apartment in Mechanicsville.  She will need full-time care, at least for the time being, and AMERF expects we may be able to help pay for at least some of that.  Sandra is investigating those expenses, as well as the cost of a home hospital bed for Beverly.  The bed is a priority, and we are prepared as well to play our stock-in-trade, pre-paid grocery cards, if she finds she needs them.

If you care to donate, you can do so using the DONATE links on our site.  If you have trouble doing so, I’d recommend going to Music Maker Relief Foundation’s website: https://musicmaker.org/artists/beverly-guitar-watkins/  I’m not sure if you can donate specifically to Beverly, so I’d encourage you to find a way to donate through us, if possible.

The phone number for AMERF on this site is temporarily down but should be accessible soon.  In the meantime, please call 404.431.6806 for info.  I don’t answer unrecognized numbers, so please do leave a message.

Again, thanks to Sandra Hall for taking the lead with Beverly’s situation.  You’re a walking, talking angel!
