First Fundraiser Results Gratifying….

AMERF’s first stand-alone fund-raiser happened Sunday July 16 at Ken Gregory‘s 800 East Studios. Much gratitude to Ken and his stable of musicians (mainly from his projects Solid State and Max Hammer), who provided most of the entertainment and inspired attendees to be especially generous with their donations.  We want to specifically thank saxophone and clarinet player Karen Greene for helping us put around $1400 toward AMERF’s General Fund, to be distributed to deserving members of Atlanta’s musical community.  As it happens, Karen and her family have experienced a catastrophic run of fortune, and we were able to present her a check for $700- just a small bit toward helping them, leaving a matching amount for AMERF to distribute before year’s end. Karen is representative of the spirit of AMERF; she did her part to help contribute to others and in turn was presented with a small gift of her own.

There were yummy snacks, cool libations, and plenty of positive energy and all departed, I believe, with a satisfying feeling of accomplishment.  Thanks again to Ken and his staff and to AMERF members and directors who worked their butts off!
