Atlanta Percussionist Count M’butu died on July 25, bringing to close a career that consisted of exquisite rhythm work with the likes of Derek Trucks Band, Aquarium Rescue Unit and more. A benefit for his wife Graciela was organized and sponsored by Scott Mecredy (Music on Main Street, Lilburn) and Mark Chester, former Atlanta resident and student of Count’s). The event was held on Sunday, August 29. Atlanta’s musical community was well-represented, paying their tributes to Count and donating their time for the cause.
