Atlanta resident and former Motown sideman and session man passed on June 20th at his home in Georgia, having succumbed to long-term health issues. Ike will be remembered as a keyboard virtuoso, his weapon of choice the Hammond B3 organ with Leslie speakers. Ike’s music truly was his life; unfortunately the rigors of that life and his time on the road (not to mention hauling around that big-ass instrument and speakers to every gig) finally caught up with him, I suppose.
