RESOURCES

Listed below are various available helpful agencies and organizations we’d like to recommend to you.  If you have any suggestions for additions to our list, please let us know, at support@amerf.org .
Legal:

  • Georgia Lawyers for the Arts (aka GLA)

404.873.3911

GLA is a pro-bono organization that was very helpful in advising us (AMERF) during the process of our incorporating as a non-profit.  If their services don’t include what you need, they may be able to refer you.  If your emergency finds you somewhere other than Georgia, they still make be able to make a referral.  If all else fails, use our Hot Line number (000.000.0000) and we’ll find someone for you.

Substance abuse/Mental Health:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous

Atlanta Hot Line: 404.525.3178

http://www.aa.org/

AA (and other 12-step programs, also listed below) is a time-proven resource for anyone struggling with alcohol-related issues; their own or those of someone close.

AA does NOT:

  • Cost anything. Not a penny. They will probably give you the opportunity to donate, but they won’t look at you funny if you don’t.
  • Require you to believe in anything, regardless of what you’ve heard.
  • Exclude anyone, for any reason. If you go to a meeting and something doesn’t feel right, try a meeting somewhere else.
  • Engage in dogma. (For you metalheads, that means “repeated and unfounded beliefs or behavior”. ) Again, that may be contrary to popular uninformed opinion.

  • Narcotics Anonymous
